When Dance Meets New York
Suspended above Manhattan, a dancer seems to defy both the void and the immensity of the city. Above Manhattan captures this improbable moment where the precision of a classical movement meets the spectacular verticality of New York. In the background, the Empire State Building dominates a skyline that seems to stretch to the horizon.
The composition relies on a striking contrast. The dancer's body draws supple and airy lines while the buildings form a dense, geometric mass. She appears almost motionless, while, several hundred meters below, one can imagine all the hustle and bustle of Manhattan.
It is this opposition that gives the image its character. Above Manhattan belongs to those artistic photographs where the setting plays a full part in the story: New York is not just a background, but the second character in the scene.
Another Way to Bring the City Indoors
Light plays an essential role here. It passes through the clouds, reflects on the water, and gradually carves out the dancer's silhouette. The black and white preserves the full intensity of these contrasts without distracting the eye with color.
This palette also makes the work particularly interesting for a black and white dominated decor. On a white, gray, beige, or even darker wall, the image retains a strong presence while remaining elegant. It can accompany both minimalist furniture and an industrial interior combining metal, concrete, and wood.
Above Manhattan will also appeal to those who love urban landscapes and panoramas of great metropolises but are looking for something other than a traditional skyline. Here, New York architecture becomes the stage for an artistic scene.
The result remains spectacular without falling into tourist photography.
Between Vertigo and Serenity
Despite the height and the feeling of emptiness, the image does not really exude tension. On the contrary, the dancer's controlled posture, the grazing light, and the distant horizon create a strange impression of silence.
This is perhaps where the uniqueness of Above Manhattan lies. A city known for never stopping seems suddenly frozen. The scene thus joins those decorative universes imbued with calm and contemplation, where the gaze can linger without being constantly solicited.
In large format, this depth becomes particularly interesting. One first notices the dancer and the Empire State Building, then the reflections on the water, the more distant buildings, and finally the nuances of the sky. The photograph reveals itself progressively.
An Original Creation Made in France
Above Manhattan is an original Iconik-Art creation, unique and made in France. It is offered on three supports to adapt its rendering to your interior.
The 100% cotton canvas 340 g/m² on a wooden frame gives it a warmer and more artistic dimension. The very thin PVC is particularly suitable for contemporary decorations. The aluminum, for its part, accentuates the precision of the architecture, the contrasts, and the details of the skyline.
In a living room, a bedroom, an office, or a professional space, Above Manhattan ultimately offers much more than a view of New York. It is the meeting between a monumental city and a few seconds of grace suspended above it.

How to choose a modern painting for your home?
Choosing a modern painting primarily depends on the atmosphere you wish to create in your home. A graphic and contrasting wall art piece will add character to a contemporary living room, while an abstract or minimalist painting will naturally fit into a minimalist space.
The size of the painting also plays an essential role. A large format work becomes a strong focal point, whereas a more discreet format allows for harmonious integration with existing decor. Colors, contrasts, and artistic style must interact with the room's volumes and materials.
The choice of finish medium fully contributes to the final rendering of the artwork. Iconik-Art paintings are available on a stretched canvas frame for an authentic and pictorial look, on expanded PVC for a contemporary and lightweight finish, or on aluminum for a modern effect with subtle and elegant reflections.
Iconik-Art collections are designed to adapt to different living spaces, whether it's a living room, an office, or a bedroom. Each decorative painting is conceived to provide a strong visual signature while remaining consistent with the interior's balance.
How to hang the painting?
There are several methods for hanging a picture depending on the type of wall (plasterboard, concrete, wallpaper, etc.), but the simplest and most practical solution remains adhesive strips or nails (like TESA or 3M).
These systems are perfectly suited to our supports (canvas frame, aluminum or expanded PVC panel), require no drilling, and can be removed without leaving any traces if used correctly.
👉 Please note: We provide 4 adhesive strips per picture
