Geometric Figurative Painting – Crossed Faces

Visages Croisés explores portraiture through a graphic construction made of fragments, lines, curves, and colored flat areas. Two faces seem to interlock in the same composition, deliberately blurring the line between the figures. Gazes overlap, profiles intersect, and geometric shapes progressively become elements of a recomposed face.
The palette significantly contributes to the work's identity. Petrol blue, deep black, cream, ochre, pink, and orange respond to each other in a harmony that is both warm and sophisticated. The colors are never merely decorative: they structure the different parts of the portrait and guide the eye through this particularly dense composition.
A contemporary portrait constructed like a puzzle
From a distance, Visages Croisés is immediately read as a figurative work. Upon closer inspection, this initial impression gives way to a multitude of details: triangles, semicircles, rectangles, vertical lines, or textured areas appear independently of each other.
This dual interpretation gives the painting its entire personality. It can thus naturally fit into a world of contemporary portraits with free forms, while also engaging with compositions based on the rhythm of lines and geometric figures.
The eye plays a central role in this construction. Repeated several times, it almost becomes an autonomous graphic motif and gives the whole a particularly expressive presence.
A powerful work to structure your decor
With its vertical format and highly elaborate composition, this painting can easily become the centerpiece of a living room. It works particularly well on a light-colored wall, where dark areas gain depth and where touches of pink, blue, and ochre stand out more.
In a contemporary decor, it can be paired with sober materials such as dark wood, black metal, concrete, or ecru textiles. Its palette also allows for discreet repetition of one of its colors in an armchair, a cushion, or a decorative object.
For those seeking greater visual intensity, wall creations featuring a dialogue of several strong colors are a natural extension of this universe.
Canvas, PVC, or aluminum: three interpretations of the same visual
On 340 g/m² cotton canvas mounted on a wooden frame, textures and graphic irregularities take on a more pictorial dimension. This finish is particularly consistent with the slightly patinated look visible in certain parts of the composition.
The 5 mm expanded PVC offers a finer, more minimalist rendering, interesting for very contemporary interiors.
Finally, a metal print wall finish enhances the precision of the lines, the sharpness of the shapes, and the contrast between dark and colored flat areas. This option is particularly suitable for those who wish to give the portrait a more graphic and architectural presence.
A contemporary figuration with multiple levels of interpretation
Visages Croisés does not seek to faithfully reproduce a face. It deconstructs it to better retain its essential elements: a gaze, a mouth, a profile, a few lines, and enough signs for our eye to spontaneously reconstruct the rest.
It is precisely this tension between representation and geometry that gives the work its character. It can be observed as a portrait, as a graphic composition, or simply as a particularly balanced juxtaposition of shapes and colors.
A creation designed for those who appreciate contemporary figuration when it moves away from traditional portraiture, without fully veering into abstraction.

How to choose a modern painting for your home?
Choosing a modern painting primarily depends on the atmosphere you wish to create in your home. A graphic and contrasting wall art piece will add character to a contemporary living room, while an abstract or minimalist painting will naturally fit into a minimalist space.
The size of the painting also plays an essential role. A large format work becomes a strong focal point, whereas a more discreet format allows for harmonious integration with existing decor. Colors, contrasts, and artistic style must interact with the room's volumes and materials.
The choice of finish medium fully contributes to the final rendering of the artwork. Iconik-Art paintings are available on a stretched canvas frame for an authentic and pictorial look, on expanded PVC for a contemporary and lightweight finish, or on aluminum for a modern effect with subtle and elegant reflections.
Iconik-Art collections are designed to adapt to different living spaces, whether it's a living room, an office, or a bedroom. Each decorative painting is conceived to provide a strong visual signature while remaining consistent with the interior's balance.
How to hang the painting?
There are several methods for hanging a picture depending on the type of wall (plasterboard, concrete, wallpaper, etc.), but the simplest and most practical solution remains adhesive strips or nails (like TESA or 3M).
These systems are perfectly suited to our supports (canvas frame, aluminum or expanded PVC panel), require no drilling, and can be removed without leaving any traces if used correctly.
👉 Please note: We provide 4 adhesive strips per picture
